Barack Obama went after President Trump today and got heckled in the process. Obama’s return to the fray really shows you what is at stake with this election. He laid it on thick and threw red meat to the base, calling Trump and the GOP liars.
“If Republicans thought their tax cut for billionaires was popular, they would be campaigning on it … you don’t hear a peep about it. If Republicans thought their endless votes to take away your health care was popular, that is what they would be campaigning on. You don’t hear a peep from them about that,” said Obama.
“Right at election time, suddenly Republicans are saying they are going to protect your pre-existing conditions. That is some kind of gall. That is some kind of chutzpah. Let’s call it what it is. It is a lie. They are lying to you.” (See Video Below)
Enter President Trump. From Fox News: Trump told the crowd that he listened to Obama’s earlier speech in Florida because “I was in the plane and I had nothing else to do.”
“I heard him talk about telling the truth. …And yet 28 times he said you can keep your doctor if you like your doctor, you can keep your plan if you like your plan. They were all lies,” Trump said.
“Lie after lie,” Trump said in West Virginia, as he rallied for GOP Senate candidate Patrick Morrisey and other Republicans. “Broken promise after broken promise. That’s what he did.”
Added Trump, “Unlike President Obama, we live by a different motto. It’s called promises made, promises kept.”
Trump was in West Virginia ahead of the midterms to campaign for the state’s Republicans, including Attorney General Patrick Morrisey in his challenge to incumbent Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin.
