Nick Sandmann’s family just made a move that is sure to strike fear in the hearts of the media companies who rushed to judge the teen.
Look, reputations cannot be easily repaired and in the age of the 24/7 news cycle, we need our media conglomerates to be more responsible.
They wield enormous power and can literally make someone a star overnight, or a villain. Is it ok to turn a young teenager’s life upside down for ratings? No.
If to prove their narrative about Trump and his supporters they are willing to throw journalistic ethics and norms out the window, they should be held to account and that is exactly what will happen.
From The Daily Wire: The family of 16-year-old Covington Catholic student Nicholas Sandmann has hired a high-powered lawyer who specializes in going after media organizations for libel and slander.
WCPO reports that the family has hired L. Lin Wood, whom disgraced former journalist Dan Rather described as the “attorney for the damned,” and who is known for “aggressive libel and slander suits against media organizations.”
The family made the announcement in a statement released by the Hemmer DeFrank Wessels law firm, The Enquirer reported.
From Cincinnati Enquirer: In a news release sent by the Hemmer DeFrank Wessels law firm, the family announced it has hired L. Lin Wood of Atlanta.
“…Todd McMurtry, the family’s legal counsel, conducted an extensive search to find a nationally-recognized attorney skilled in the fields of libel, defamation, and the First Amendment,” the release said.
Wood represented JonBenet Ramsey’s brother in a $750 million defamation suit against CBS. The suit accused CBS of ruining Burke Ramsey’s reputation after a television series suggested he killed his 6-year-old sister more than two decades ago.
