Melania Trump Hits Back Hard At Michelle Obama’s Comments About Offering Advice

Melania Trump has her own unique management style and she has a proven track record of results. Look, she has slashed staff and the budget of the First Lady and she is saving taxpayers money.

That is a good thing as is her decision to stay mostly out of the spotlight. To be fair to those who came before her, First Lady is a totally thankless job and you can’t please everyone.

Michelle Obama knows this and has stayed far away from criticizing Melania but in her new book, she seemed to break her long-standing silence.

She must have annoyed Melania because Melania’s spokeswoman hit back hard at the slight, whether perceived or legitimate.

From Business Insider:

Michelle Obama put politics aside when Melania Trump succeeded her in the White House, offering to give her advice if she ever needed it. But Trump has never taken the former first lady up on that offer, Obama told ABC News’ Robin Roberts in a nearly hourlong conversation that aired Sunday night on “20/20.”

“I know that Laura Bush reached out to you and said, ‘If you need any help, I’m a phone call away,'” Roberts said.

“Yep, yep,” Obama responded.

“You wrote about how and have talked about how you extended that same courtesy to Melania Trump,” Roberts said. “Has she reached out to you and asked for any help?”

“No, no she hasn’t,” Obama said, raising her eyebrows.

From CNN:

On Monday afternoon, Stephanie Grisham, Trump’s communications director, said in a statement to CNN that the first lady was not in need of Obama’s assistance.

“Mrs. Trump is a strong and independent woman who has been navigating her role as First Lady in her own way,” Grisham wrote via email. “When she needs advice on any issue, she seeks it from her professional team within the White House.”

Michelle did have some nice things to say about Melania, “You know, one of the things you learn as a former, it’s, like, I don’t judge what a current is doing, you know? So I’d prefer not to, you know, speak on what she’s doing versus what I did because I think every first lady approaches this job differently.”
