James Comey was desperate, caught between a rock and a hard place he threw a hail mary to the courts to try to forestall the inevitable.
And it looks like he lost big time and he will finally sit in front of the House committee who want answers from the most disliked man in America.
Look, if you are a Democrat you blame Comey for sinking Hillary chances with the late email drop but if you are a republican you think he should have been much tougher on Hillary and that he overreacted out of guilt and tried to destroy Trump.
In short, everyone is pissed at Comey and everyone is correct – he broke with tradition by inserting himself in the race but he also broke with tradition and let Hillary off the hook and then he went after Trump for spurious reasons.
He has a lot to answer for and the sooner the better for America so Trump can move past this sad chapter in our history.
From The Hill: Former FBI Director James Comey tweeted Sunday that he had reached a deal with Republican lawmakers regarding his testimony before Congress.
“Grateful for a fair hearing from judge. Hard to protect my rights without being in contempt, which I don’t believe in,” Comey wrote on Twitter, following a hearing on Comey’s challenge to a GOP-issued subpoena.
“So will sit in the dark, but Republicans agree I’m free to talk when done and transcript released in 24 hours,” he added. “This is the closest I can get to public testimony.”
The House Judiciary Committee chairman, Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.), last week offered to publicly release a transcript of Comey’s closed-door testimony if he agreed to testify.
Comey had demanded that his testimony before the committee regarding the FBI’s conduct surrounding the probe into Russian interference in the 2016 election be public.
