The FBI leadership just changed course and put Barack Obama and Joe Biden on official notice over what they did to Trump.
By now, everyone knows that what those two and others were up to was not on the level. Trump and some in the GOP have demanded action to get to the bottom of what happened.
Currently we have the Senate and Bill Barr investigating and now Chris Wray is officially ordered an internal investigation of what happened.
FBI Director Christopher Wray ordered an internal review of the handling of the bureau’s investigation of former Trump campaign adviser Michael Flynn.
The “after-action” investigation, announced Friday, will focus on two areas: rooting out any misconduct by current FBI employees and evaluating the need to change bureau policies.
A statement noted that the FBI will evaluate whether disciplinary measures will be necessary for any current employees, although the bureau lacks the prosecutorial authority to bring a criminal case. The statement also said the FBI lacks the ability to take any disciplinary action against former employees.
Flynn pleaded guilty in December 2017 to lying to FBI investigators about his December 2016 conversations with Sergey Kislyak about sanctions and a United Nations resolution on Israel. But Flynn now claims that he was set up by the FBI, and the Justice Department is seeking to drop the case.
Last week, the federal judge overseeing the case appointed a retired New York federal judge, John Gleeson, to serve as an amicus curiae to “present arguments in opposition to the government’s Motion to Dismiss” and to address “whether the Court should issue an Order to Show Cause why Mr. Flynn should not be held in criminal contempt for perjury.”
